Yes, Carolina Moves requires a security deposit equal to at least 1 month's rent. Security deposits are considered the property of the tenant and are placed in a Carolina Moves Trust Account and will remain in a Carolina Moves Trust Account until such a time as the tenant vacates the property. At that time, Carolina Moves reserves the right to disperse the tenant's security deposit, as necessary by the tenant's lease terms and law, within 30 days.
A move out inspection will be performed when you vacate the property and any damages beyond normal wear and tear or any unpaid balances on your account will be deducted from your security deposit at that time. You are entitled to an accounting of any deductions from your security deposit, as well as a refund of remaining funds and that will be provided to you within 30 days of your move out.
Unless specifically indicated in the property description, it is the responsibility of the tenant to set up all utility and public service accounts in the tenant's name and provide proof of transfer. Carolina Moves requires utility account information to show that such accounts have been placed in the name of the tenant prior to the tenant taking possession of the rental property.

However, if you never accepted tenancy and didn't obtain keys to the property, you will not be charged any additional damages above and beyond the security deposit you originally put down. Please bear in mind that handing over a security deposit constitutes a binding verbal contract to rent the property.
